Andreas Andreou

Andreas Andreou served as Vice-Chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission for two terms (2011-2020). He has more than twenty years’ experience in financial services regulatory work (including licensing, sanctioning, approvals of prospectuses/takeover bid documents, proposed legislation/regulations/circulars), corporate governance, onshore and offshore investment and hedge funds, fund formation, emphasizing alternative asset classes, corporate and commercial transactions in the asset management sector and international investment agreements.

He was admitted to practice in Cyprus in 1995 and served as Head of the legal department of a large investment firm and subsequently as the General Counsel of another investment firm and its group of companies.

Andreas holds an LLB degree with Honours and an LLM in European and lnternational Trade Law from Leicester University, England.

He is a Barrister, member of Lincoln’s lnn and a member of the Cyprus Bar.

He has participated as a speaker in a number of financial/regulatory seminars and conferences in Cyprus and abroad, and represented the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission in European and International bodies such as the IOSCO, ESRB and European Union Council.

He has also coordinated assessments carried out by international organisations such as the Troika, Moneyval and Global Forum.

Mr Andreou is also a founding member of the Cyprus Association of Company Directors.
